Google revealed that the Moto X will be the latest Android device from the company to be released this year. However, the company never revealed much of a press release about what will exactly be found in the Moto X. But the : mills began churning and now there is word of specs of the Moto X released by a leaker on Twitter. Below, we have a brief overview of what is expected in the latest Android device.

Processor

The released leak mentions that the processor will be a 1.7 GHz dual core processor, in other words, the processor is being coined with the name “ Snapdragon S4 Pro”. There were other rumours out there that pointed to a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor.

Camera Quality

The leak mentions that the video quality of the camera will be HD, 720p video. The camera quality for taking photos is leaked according to the tweet to be 10 megapixels for the rear facing camera, and the frontal camera being 2MP. It is unknown, but likely whether or not the front facing camera will have video capture capabilities. This  seems a bit low though and other rumours have mentioned of a 16 megapixel camera. Despite being low, the chance of a 10 megapixel rear camera is more likely.

Storage

The available RAM on the Moto X is reported to be 2GB, while the storage capacity is reported to be 10GB. This is in line with the other rumours about the device’s storage capabilities. Whether there will be a sliding scale on how much storage is capable based on price and information about memory card capabilities are still unknown.

Software

The software that is expected to ship with the Moto X is Android 4.2.2. However, this is the biggest rumour up in the air and it is highly dependent on if the phone is on track for a summer release or a bit later. Consumers are waiting for an Android 4.3 to be released. It is unlikely that there would be a phone release so soon before a software one, making users have to update right away. Chances are high that two things will occur: the Moto X will be released with Android 4.2.2, requiring users to update when 4.3 is out, or Moto X being shipped with 4.3 before or on the expected 4.3 release timeframe.

Who knew that a tweet in about sixteen words could reveal so much about an upcoming device. The latest phone was expected to be released much later and with a newer version of Android software. Whether this will be in fact the case is still up in the air. If you haven’t heard of the Moto X yet, one thing you might have known without knowing the name was that this is Motorola’s first phone to be manufactured in the United States, also making it the first smartphone ever to be manufactured in the states as well.
