The hottest video game expo of the year, E3, started June 11th at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The expo, which lasts until tomorrow the 13th of June, will be the main venue for game manufacturers to present some of the hottest games and video gaming merchandise for the coming year. The 18 year old expo is known as E3, which stands for Electronic Entertainment Expo. The second day’s festivities are over, now let’s go over what was shown off. Let us know in the comments below your favourite announcement so far.

Nintendo Announcements

Nintendo was low key today in terms of the way in which their announcements were given. However, this doesn’t mean the video gaming giant didn’t place their mark on E3. While day one was dedicated mostly to hardware announcements for many other manufacturers, today was strictly games for Nintendo. Announcements included the release of Mario Kart 8. Pokemon X and Y is announced to be released October 12th of this year. A new Donkey Kong series, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze was also announced at E3. The game will be available on Wii U. Lastly, Super Mario 3D World was announced at E3 today, with the Wii U game set for release this December.

Hardware Announcements: Microsoft and Sony

Both gaming giants used E3 as a chance to advance their hardware plans for the coming months. Sony was the king of the hardware show for today. The gaming company released Playstation 4 announcement spots that will hit the airwaves soon. Both companies were able to show off the new controllers that will be compatible with their respective gaming systems, the Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

Both controls are pictured above and below. Both controllers made it an effort to offer smaller controls for a more comfortable experience. Also, due to some new information we received today, despite yesterday reporting of the Playstation 4’s plans to offer a 1080p Kinect camera, there are in fact no plans in the beginning to offer them in a bundle. Microsoft announces that Dark Souls 2 will in fact be available for Xbox 360 and Final Fantasy XV for Xbox One.
